The high-pressure fracturing pumper may be used for a wide variety of fluid pumping operations. Typical operations include propant hydraulic fracturing, acid fracturing, high-pressure pumping, solvent pumping, liquid carbon dioxide pumping and pressure testing. The components incorporated into this model are arranged to provide reasonable access for maintenance and ease of operation. The unit is designed with the latest safety features and maintains operator safety as a primary objective.

The deck engine to run the pumping package is a MTU Diesel engine rated to 1,680 kW(2,253 BHP). Power is transmitted to a SPM TWS-2250 Triplex pump via an Allison S9820M transmission over the drive shaft.

The Unit can be remotely operated either from a remote control module or from the data van through a Mobile Computerized Data Acquisition and Control Unit.

The unit described in this specification is designed and built for severe environmental conditions ranging from -30°C to +40°C. One 1000 liter capacity fuel tank will be installed on the Skid frame.

The Skid is equipped with reinforced slots in the low beam to handle it with a Helicopter. If the Unit will be too heavy it is easily to remove the triplex pump. All fluid connections to the triplex pump will be quick connections. To start the pump engine two hydraulic starters are mounted which will be powered from external hydraulic supply via quick connectors.

Controls & Instrumentation

Electronics / Controls / Instrumentation

The Frac Pumper controls and instrumentation are installed in two areas on the unit. The local control panel is mounted at chest height on the driver's side of the unit. The local control components are housed in a weather tight stainless steel enclosure and protected on the top, back, and sides by an aluminium mounting enclosure. The panel is protected from vibration with special isolators and of an easy-to-maintain design.

The remote control panel is mounted in a suitcase style enclosure and stored on the unit in the enclosed aluminium box located next to the local panel. Included with the unit is 50m of remote cable. The cable is stored on a fixed style wrap designed to hold 50m of cable and mounted to the side of the local panel protective support frame.

The unit is monitored and controlled using either a local panel, remote panel in a data/control van (not supplied with this unit) or via the supplied remote panel that allows the operator to run the pumper from any position up to 50 m away from the unit.

Scope

The Blender is a truck mounted mixing unit for preparation of fracturing fluids, blending proppant into the fluid and charging the positive displacement fracturing pumps.

The blender is the "heart" of the hydraulic fracturing equipment. Utilizing state of the art electronic controls and superior hardware C.A.T. units deliver high levels of durability and efficiency in mixing stimulation fluids, proppant and chemicals.

The blender automatic tub-levelling (ATL), automatic density-control (ADC) and automatic chemical-control (ACC) systems ensure excellent slurry quality and proppant concentration control.

Constant concentration of liquid and dry chemicals mixed into the fracturing fluid on the fly is maintained by the ACC system, operating independently from the standard blender controls.

The truck components are selected to provide optimum performance to the end user, as dictated by environmental conditions and serviceability.

The blender unit provides completely automated operation with full interation with Data Vans and Hydration Units supplied by C.A.T. GmbH.

The unit can operate independently without data van control. In addition to capability of mixing slurry on the fly and pumping into the flow this blender can be used to recirculate the slurry

  • Brookfield TT-100 Viscometer will be installed on suction line of the blender to enable measurements of linear gel viscosity.
  • On discharge side of blender a Yokogawa pH-meter will be installed to control pH and temperature of slurry.

Operator/Chemical Cabine

  • 1x 3000 liter on board stationary liquid storage tank for liquid chemicals, equipped with agitators for mixing up to 1500 cP viscous fluids, heating system with Webasto diesel-fired heater to warm up fluid. A sealed-closable service hatch will be provided in a side wall of tank to enable cleaning and maintenance of the tank. Installation of this tank will ensure removing the blender with filled tank (the tank level depends on the total axle load of the chassis).

General Description

The Data Van is a container mounted, model F-DACU-T-6, fully insulated and air-conditioned computerized data acquisition and control unit, necessary for pre-designing of fracturing jobs, data analysis, and also controlling the fracturing operation.

Equipped with all required soft- and hardware, industrial-grade computers, displays, printer, pumper control panel etc., which may be used for data acquisition, running of fracturing software, etc. for the generation of hard copies, there is a printer available.

The C.A.T. Data Van is a mobile data acquisition and control unit incorporating user friendly computer hardware and software.

This unit is provided with an auxiliary frac control center and computer equipment for onboard data acquisition, job design and cost frac analysis. This unit will be capable of running the existing frac spreads.

The whole drive of the system will be electrical and supplied by the chassis driven generator which is fixed mounted on the MB chassis. The Container is designed to transport it on a MB 6x6 chassis. Everything is designed to remove the Container easily with a helicopter from the chassis.

Proppant Bunker

This is a dual compartment type closed 47m3 (80t) capacity that is installed in a correct and safe manner on the truck frame.

The proppant bunker will have the following characteristics:

  • Storage capacity of up to 80 tons (bulk Density 1700 kg/m3)
  • Dual box type compartment configuration (60% front section (truck end) and 40% rear section (blender end) by volume)
  • The proppant box has the maximum possible number of filling hatches (divisible by 3), hatch size approx. 600 mm x 600 mm

Geneneral Description

The C.A.T. GmbH Manifold Truck described in this specification is a portable manifold designed for use in oilfield stimulation and related services.

All high pressure equipment is mounted on a custom-built heavy-duty skid. The skid comes complete with four lifting lugs, one on each corner of the skid for use with slings and clevises (not included). The skid is designed to be winched on and off.

The unit consists of suitable suction and discharge connections and valves for up to six (6) frac pumpers and two (2) blenders.

The components incorporated into this model are arranged to provide reasonable access for maintenance and ease of operation. Stowage facilities for related accessories and commonly used auxiliary equipment is provided.

Scope

This specification provides a description of C.A.T. GmbH Fracturing Chemical Unit which is truck mounted. The model described is furnished by C.A.T. GmbH completely assembled, finished, cleaned, inspected and tested according to this specification and is ready for its intended purpose.

General Description

This unit can be mounted/ transported on a truck chassis (6x6) and is designed for the operations in the harsh environment of oilfields.

The required power is performed by means of the truck power take-off. The power take-off drives the generator and a hydraulic system to drive the centrifugal pump. This electrical system (generator 30kVA / 400V) activates the unit.

The c-pump with piping and the generator will be fix mounted on the chassis frame. Only the container with the inventory is removable with a helicopter.

The insulated chemical container consists of two (2) different sections:

Front section: There is a laboratory in the front section of the container where chemicals can be tested in site. An operator panel is additionally installed in the front section of the unit. It makes possible to control manually or automatically the dosing pumps by means of this operator panel. All working processes such as pumping, mixing, dosing, are controlled by the operator panel.

Rear section: Six (6) dosing pumps electrical driven are installed in the middle part of the container. A flow meter is additionally installed behind each dosing pump. Following pumps are mounted:

  • 2 x progressive cavity pump 0,5 -25 L
  • 2 x progressive cavity pump 1 - 40 L
  • 2 x progressive cavity pump 2 - 120 L
The rear part of the container is used for transport of chemicals tanks. There are 4 stainless steel tanks mounted, one with the capacity of appr. 2m3 without agitators, two tanks with the capacity of appr. 3m3/ each including one agitator each tank and one guar tank with a capacity of 5 mm including two agitators.

The Unit is equipped with an additional centrifugal pump and a MID Flowmeter to mix fluids in storage tanks.

The tank levels are depending of the load capacity of the Chassis.

Normally the tanks should be empty during the transport.

The container is equipped with an internal heating system (electrical). This heating system allows a constant temperature of 20° C inside of the container (while the truck engine/ generator is running). The heating system prevents freezing of pumps and pipes.

All installed pumps work independently. Along with the flow meter, the pumps provide an exact dosing of chemicals as well as a constant-controllable mass flow. Due to an automatic monitoring system of chemicals, this unit ensures the maximum safety during oilfield operations.

Description

The Container is equipped with container corners at the bottom (for transport). This unit is suitable for operating in harsh arctic conditions on the oil field.

The container is equipped with two (2) doors:

One door allows the access to the technical service (at the rear), another door is for the operator (on the right side).

A special roof design (three-part structure) ensures a simple dismounting of the boiler. Such construction allows a simple dismounting of the unit (roof).

The whole drive of the system will be electrical and supplied by the chassis driven generator which is fixed mounted on the MB chassis.

The Container is designed to transport it on a MB 6x6 chassis. Everything is designed to remove the Container easily with a helicopter from the chassis.

The whole fluid piping will be 4" with FIG 206 Hammer connections.

Centrifugal pump

A centrifugal pump (Type R25) is installed for pumping water. The pump is electrically driven and continuously adjustable by means of the frequency converter.

The self-priming pump is a single-level, horizontal centrifugal pump designed for pumping of polluted, containing air or gas liquids, and materials with a low viscosity. A one-time filling of the pump casing prior to the initial start-up is sufficient. Due to a special design principle, a sufficient pumping medium in the pump casing remains after the pump stop to perform a suction operation. At the same time, a dry run of the pump is prevented. This innovative technology will require no additional suction devices as butterfly valves. The maintenance costs will be significantly reduced, operation simplified, and reliability increased to a maximum.
